Almond milk anyone???

Almond milk. How can anyone not enjoy the pure taste of almond milk? I personally LOVE it! I use it in my cereal, hot cereals, smoothies, and maybe even add it in facial mask. Why not?

However, of course big corporations just love adding extra ingredients to foods. Even if it's something as simple and pure, as almond milk. Many brands (eg, "SO Delicious" and "Almond Dream"), use Carageenan, to thicken and emulsify their product. Carageenan is not digestable and has no nutritional value. Yeah, I know, how dare they do that to us! It gets worse...

"Caregeenan appears to be particularly destructive to the digestive system, triggering an immune response similar to that your body has when invaded by pathogens like Salmonella." - Joanne K. Tobacman, M.D., associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine

This is why I decided to make my own milk. It's easy, quick, super pure and healthy, and best of all, there aren't any of those harsh, unnecessary ingredients in it. Here's how its done:

1 Cup of Almonds (soaked overnight) 4 Cups of Water (or coconut water for a sweeter taste) Blend Pour into nut milk bag and catch in bowl (optional: I personally do not strain it) Pour, store and refrigerate in glass bottle (will last 7 days)

If you wish to sweeten your almond milk, you can add one date and a pinch of pink himilayan salt. And Wala! 100% plant-based, dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, homemade almond milk. Enjoy!
